The rock caves, excavated in the horseshoe shaped gorge of the Waghora River in the Sahyadri hills lie in a picturesque location. The wonderful cave shrines at Ajanta and Ellora are cut out of rock by hand, and are regarded as one of the most astonishing examples of architectural heritage of India. Visiting Days : Ajanta Caves are open on all days, except on Mondays and national holidays when it remains closed.
