Kalchakra Festivals : The festival of kalchakra was held in the month of January this year in Amravati. This event of great significance for Buddhists was organized by different Tibetan and Indian Buddhists organizations. His Holiness the Dalai Lama will led the Kalachakra ceremony, where a holy mandala was being created and dismantled, amidst prayer ceremonies and Buddhist religious rituals during the festival.

This year around 200,000 tourists came for the festival and most of them were from Asian Buddhists countries.

India Buddhism BookingHistory of Kalchakra : Expounding on the wheel of time, The Kalchakra, was first delivered by Lord Buddha in 15 th day of the third month, after he attained enlightenment. His philosophical sermon was delivered at Vulture Peak to a group of disciples, among who was King Suchandra, who then instructed many of his subjects in the knowledge of the wheel of time. Lord Buddha also manifested as the deity Kalachakra at the Sri Dhanyakataka Stupa at Amaravati and passed on his divine teachings.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama has graciously and kindly agreed to confer the Kalachakra Empowerment at Shri Dhanyakataka in South India, taking into consideration the sanctity of this excellent place where Buddha taught the Kalachakra for the first time. Due to the unique qualities of both the place and the teacher, manifest in the form of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, this is a very rare and privileged opportunity that is most unlikely to occur again in the future. The auspicious site of the Amaravati Kalachakra makes it even more significant to Buddhists worldwide.
