Bodhgaya

India Buddhism BookingBodhgaya is one of the most significant Buddhist pilgrimage centre of the world for being the place where the Buddha attained enlightenment.

BodhgayaThe four important places associated with the life of Gautam Buddha are Lumbini, in Nepal, where he was born, Bodhgaya where he attained enlightenment, Sarnath or Isipatan near Varanasi where he delivered his first sermon and Kushinagar near Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh, where he left his mortal body. Of all these places Bodhgaya has its own spiritual significance. It is considered as the holy land where prince Siddhartha Gautam became the enlightened Gautam Buddha.

Bodhgaya is more of a working Buddhist center, which attracts people from all over the world who come here to learn about Buddhism and meditation.

India Buddhism BookingHow to Reach : Located around 7 miles south of Gaya, which is at a distance of 105 km from Patna in the state of Bihar, Bodhgaya is a small but important archeological site.

Bodhgaya does not have an airport and railway station of its own and so it can only be reached by road. The main bus stop in Bodhgaya is located near Sujata Bridge on the Falgu River on the northeastern edge of the town. There is bus service to the town of Gaya, which is 13 km north of Bodhgaya. Bus service to Varanasi is also available. Auto-rickshaws ply back and forth Gaya and Bodhgaya, but they are generally overcrowded.
