Norbulinka Institute (4 KMS) : The Norbulingka Institute of Tibetan Culture was founded by the Department of Religion and Culture to preserve and promote Tibetan art and culture in exile. Fearing for the future of Tibet's cultural heritage, the Seventh Dalai Norbulinka institute was set up to preserve and teach the ancient Tibetan arts in 1754. The institute is famous for its wooden carvings and tangka paintings. The nunnery close to the institute is a place where women are taught the advanced levels of Buddhist philosophy .
