Destination Delhi - Pathankot - Dharamsala - Pathankot - Delhi
Day 01 Arrival at Delhi
On arrival at Delhi Airport guests will be welcomed by our representative who will assist them and escort them to the hotel booked for two night’s stay in the national capital as planned under this India Buddhist Tour. Guests then will spend the night at the hotel relaxing in order to have new vigour for next day’s extended tour of Delhi under this tour to Buddhist sites in India.
Day 02 At Delhi
Post breakfast on this day guests will be provided a tour of the national capital city of Delhi. In the morning the tour will begin with a visit to the charming sightseeing attractions of Old Delhi including Red Fort, Jama Masjid-the largest mosque in India and Rajghat- the memorial of Mahatma Gandhi. Afternoon will be planned for a visit to the sightseeing attractions of New Delhi which include a visit to Humayun Tomb, Qutub Minar, India Gate, Birla Mandir and Lotus Temple. Return to the hotel for an overnight stay.
Day 03 Delhi - Patna
On this day guests will be transferred to the airport early in the morning where all the pre arrangements will be made for their journey to the city of Patna. On arrival our representative will escort guests to the hotel booked for a night stay. Thereafter guests will begin their tour to Buddhist sites at Vaishali which is the place where Lord Buddha had delivered his last sermon and announced his Nirvana. Also visit the stupas here which hold urns that contain Buddha’s ashes and the renowned Ashok pillar erected by King Ashoka.
Day 04 Patna - Rajgir
The morning of this day of India Buddhist Tour will begin with a sumptuous meal and will be followed by a three hours drive to Rajgir which is the erstwhile capital of 6th century kingdom of Magadha. This region is renowned for being the revered site of Buddha’s discourses and therefore has many Buddhist pilgrimage sites. Hence guests will pay a visit to all these Buddhist sites such as Gridhrakula, Sapataparni Cave, Ajatsatru Fort and Venuvana. In the afternoon you will be visiting world’s oldest university of Nalanda. Also visit the famous temples and monasteries containing Buddhist images and the institute for research of Buddhist and Pali literature. The tour will conclude in the evening and guests will return to the hotel for overnight stay.
Day 05 Rajgir- Bodhgaya
Your tour to Buddhism sites will continue on this day as guests will make an early morning journey to Bodhgaya post breakfast. This drive will bring an opportunity to visit the earliest examples of caves with rock cut- Baraliar Caves. At Bodhgaya guests will be accommodated in a hotel for two night’s stay in the region.
Day 06 At Bodhgaya
Bodhgaya, with the history of being the place of Buddha’s enlightenment has always been one of the main Buddhist pilgrimage centres. Therefore this day will be devoted to a complete tour of the Buddhism sites in the region which include Satabodhi Temple, Japanese and Tibetan monasteries and the Magadha University museum. Return to the hotel late in the evening where you will stay for the night.
Day 07 Bodhgaya - Varanasi
In the morning post breakfast guests will depart for their next Buddhist destination in India, Varanasi either by road or by train as per guest’s convenience. At Varanasi guests will arrive in the afternoon and will be transferred to the hotel booked by our tour operator for a night stay. Late in the afternoon pay a visit to the holy ghats (banks) of sacred River Ganges, temples nearby also the famous Benaras Hindu University.
Day 08 Varanasi- Sarnath
This day will begin on a tranquilizing note as the guests will visit River Ganges early in the morning to view the scenic sunrise. Return to the hotel for breakfast which will be followed by a visit to Sarnath which is another chief Buddhism centre for being the place where Buddha had preached his first sermon post enlightenment. Also visit other Buddhism monuments of Dhamekh and Dharmarajika stupas
Day 09 Varanasi- Kushinagar
The morning at Varanasi will be provided free to the guests and later in the afternoon a drive to Kushinagar will be scheduled. Kushinagar is the place where Buddha had passed into Parinirvana and therefore is a prominent Buddhist site therefore guests will visit the main monuments such as Ramabha stupa standing on the place where Buddha was cremated, Natha Kumarka Kot enshrining the large figure of Buddha. After experiencing these eternal sites return to the hotel for overnight stay.
Day 10 Kushinagar- Lumbini
On this day of India Buddhist Tour guests will pay a visit to Lumbini, the place of birth of Lord Buddha. This will be an experience of a lifetime as the guests will view the image of Buddha in its complete sanctified form. Also visit some of the famous Buddhist shrines such as Balrampur and Sravasti and then return to the hotel for overnight stay.
Day 11 Lumbini- Lucknow- Delhi
This India Buddhist Tour will be concluded on this day as the guests will be first transferred to Lucknow from where they will catch the flight to Delhi. At Delhi Airport our representative will make all the pre arrangements for their connecting flight back home.
